Make-Over!

Our school is doing the musical 'Sound of Music' this year. Everybody is looking forward to it and most of the girls in my year are either in it or helping out backstage so i wanted to do something as well. Me and Saoirse are doing make-up for it. Ms. Lenord is going to be helping us too & rumour has it that a make up artist will come in and show us what to do. I am so excited because i love make up and this will be a really good experience. More people should sign up for doing the make-up for the musical i think its a bit short for numbers... It'll be great fun.
The musical is to take place In December, the 5th to the 8th and i think everyone should try come one of the nights to see it :)

PS. We get a t-shirt that says Crew on the back!!:D

Juno & The Paycock

Helloo,
Yesterday, the 19th of October, all ty students were brought on a trip to town. As part of the trip, we went to the national museum, a library, a W.B Yeats exhibition & to the Abbey Theatre to see Juno & The Paycock. We were reading the play in class for the last few weeks and it was a lot better going to see it. Everybody really enjoyed the play and it was my first time in the theatre so i was really looking forward to it and hopefully in the future I'll get to see more.
Between the museum, library & the exhibition, i probably found the Yeats exhibition the most interesting. Seeing diaries, pages, his school report card all first hand was really cool.

To top the day off we went to McDonald's for lunch... Yum :)

TY Projects

Well, they weren't exaggerating when they said that there are alot of projects to be done in Ty!
There is so much to be done and some are more important then others but yet they all need to be completed and ALL have a deadline! I suppose i'm not really complaning because some are actually fun like the geography project, I am in a group with Orla & Aimee and we have to plan an around the world trip. We have 1200euro per person and have to go to two countries each. I am going to America for my first one & never could have thought in a million years that the things to do/see in America could exist. It is really interesting & fun to research. Orla & Aimee are going to Finland & Spain for their first ones.. now we have to get started on the second contries we would like to visit on our trip.
In music we are doing a 'mini opera'. I'm in the set & costume design group because other wise i would have ended up in the cast and i am not singing! Orla, Aoife & Aimee are in my group and the opera is based on 'friends' the tv show so we are all familiar with it and excited to get started designing or whatever it is we must do :)
Then theres the young scientist competition.. (
http://www.btyoungscientist.ie/) ..    I have always loved science up to this competition in ty. It was very hard to come up with an idea that we could actually do ourselves. I really liked the ideas we did come up with but unfortunatly couldnt do them. The idea we settled on is experimenting with the treatment creams for eczema. Like there is a hugh variety of them & we just want to find out which is the better one by seperating them into catagories such as, steroid, anti-biotic & organic. It may sound boring but aimee has eczema and i'm her partner so we are interested in what other people with eczema think and if what triggers their eczema is the same, we hope to get through anyways. It doesnt end there, there is so much more like mini company, english drama, home ec outfit design, french artist, celbridge history research for irish class, cooking in home ec, family tree for history and soo much more. So when people say that ty is great for getting no homework.. they're wrong.
The one big advantage is that we are in groups for most projects so i get to know different people so it is good fun (:

Junior Cert Results!

Helloo..
the 14th of September we were given our Junior Cert Results & I'm pretty happy with myself!:) 8 honours, 3 passes.. & I passed maths which I could have bet alot of money that I would fail!..
I couldn't remember most of my exams by the end of summer which worried me even though everyone says that i'l be grand & blah blah blah.. I still wasn't sure & as the 14th came closer, the more nervous I became. I went out for lunch with my mam after and got all the phone calls from my family to see how I did. My mam and dad were really happy with me so I was delighted. All the girls came over to my house then that night because we were going out to Time in Naas to celebrate our results and everyone could because they all did brilliant aswell. Time was sooo good.. soooo packed & sooo warm but was worth it, everyone thought it was good & the best place we could have gone for results night.

Carlingford!!

Carlingford was completely different then what I thought. It was like a little make believe village built up around the adventure centre. One of the instructors even said 'this is a real town btw not make believe'! some of the girls described it as something from Harry Potter. We went up to the forest about half an hour after arriving to start the activites staright away. We played lazer tag which was like paintball except with lazers. Everyone thought that was the best espeacially because we were dressed in army coloured jumpsuits & caps so we looked pretty funny. Everyone then MILLED their lunch because we wouldn't have ate until 6 that morning! after lunch we did the challenge course.. this was fun because in my group it was all my friends so we had a laugh & took it competitivly at the same time so therefore we won :D
That night we were given our rooms, all 12 of us were in one room with lotssssss of goodies so was all gooood!:) Sive left her window open and the instructor who was on night guard slammed it shut which gave us all the fright of our lives. Half of us went running to the door. The next day he asked who he scared and we were all instiches!
We then went rock climing, absailing & orienteering. They were all really good. The bad thing was all the hills we had to walk up to get to these places. I was in no way fit for the hikes we went on so absolutlely collapsed that night when I got to bed. My arms, legs & everywhere really were aching the next morning but i would say it was all worth it because we did have a real good time & should go back again sometime throughout the year!;)

Social Development Programe!

On Wednesday the 7th Of September we had a social development programme. It was really exciting as the man who was presenting the programme, Austin Dunne, was my uncle so i was very excited to see what he was like teaching. even though he says he's not much of a teacher therefore we didnt have to call him 'sir' just Austin, i still think he did a real good job & was great. He tought us loads of things i never knew before like personality types which was really interesting. it also got out class closer together & we had some crack.
we were in the library with him for the day so we were all happy to be out of classes for the day.. It was good. :)
